Inks + Drinks

In this workshop hibiscus flowers will serve as ingredients for homemade cocktails and handmaid ink. Students will work in dry and wet media, drawing a plant of their choosing from life while sipping on hibiscus mimosas, margaritas, lemon gin cocktails, and whiskey sours. Students should expect to walk away with two to three paintings, new cocktail recipes, and an introduction to painting with natural ingredients.

A Beginner’s Guide

This course is based on the idea that contemporary art is for everyone. We will pull back the curtain and take a look behind the scenes to learn about the art, people, and organizations that make up the world of contemporary art in San Francisco. Gain comfort with forming your own opinions about art, meet local cultural contributors, find out how art galleries work, and more!

Crafts
Dive into the fundamentals of the ancient art of leather working. Students should expect to learn basic leather crafting techniques such as saddle stitching, dyeing, and edge finishing and will work towards creating beautiful leather accessories that will last a lifetime. Short lectures on historical leather making and leather artisans will supplement studio time.
